Our Verdict
This is the best HDMI 2.1 monitor and it is incredible! I’m really blown away by how much of an improvement this is over a 1080p HDTV at 60Hz. As long as you have the right video card and properly tune your game settings, the refresh rate makes everything feel silky smooth. The colors are quite vibrant and bold. Backlight bleed or dead pixels are not seen. The 4K resolution is incredible. Because the brightness is so high, I had to bring mine down from factory settings. When you turn off your computer, the monitor simply shows a brief notice about no signal before going black, so you can leave it on all the time if you wish.

The monitor’s fundamental SDR color setting produces excellent colors. If you’re upgrading from an older SD display, they’re a tremendous improvement. In addition, the HDR function boosts color resolution and brightness slightly. In HDR equivalent games, you will detect a difference, although it is not significant. As indicated, the monitor is Gsync compliant. However, there is a catch. You can’t use FreeSync/Gsync and HDR at the same time because this monitor only supports FreeSync 1. Most of the time, the visual quality is excellent. The whites are beautiful and neutral when the color profile is set to neutral. The colors are vibrant and stand out.

Final Verdict
The ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX isn’t just a great monitor; it’s also cutting-edge technology. This is the world’s first Mini LED gaming monitor, as previously stated. It’s also one of the first (and best) 4K gaming monitors on the market. When you combine the rarity of Mini LED technology with the performance of a top-tier 4K gaming monitor, it’s easy to see why the ROG Swift PG32UQX is so expensive and one of the best HDMI 2.1 monitor.
When you consider all you receive with the Gigabyte M32U gaming monitor, it’s almost a no-brainer. Gigabyte goes all-in with features like the built-in KVM switch and GameAssist, and it almost pays off. When you factor in the well-executed, more recognizable features, this is a monitor that deserves serious consideration if you’re looking for an HDMI 2.1 monitor and what it has to offer.
With 144 Hz, Adaptive-Sync, HDR, and expanded color, the Asus ROG Strix XG43UQ is a superb jumbo monitor. Its gaming performance is hampered by a lackluster overdrive, but it compensates with a strong build, vibrant and accurate color, and outstanding contrast for both SDR and HDR material.
The Acer XV282K KV is a fantastic gaming laptop. It boasts a high 144Hz refresh rate that can be achieved over HDMI thanks to its HDMI 2.1 ports, although an HDMI 2.1 capable graphics card is required. To reduce screen tearing, it supports FreeSync VRR. The response times are extremely fast, resulting in smooth motion and minimal input lag. Unfortunately, it has a poor contrast ratio, which makes blacks appear grey in dim light.
The Acer Predator XB323QK is one the best HDMI 2.1 monitors. It is excellent. The Agile Splendor IPS panel is ideal for work and play for gamers, multimedia creators, and professionals. It’s ideal for numerous computer setups thanks to its wide selection of video inputs and USB connections. It’s not cheap, at A$1,699.00, and it’s dangerously close to the “should I just purchase an LG C1 48? TV instead” region. But as much as I love the C1, which is undoubtedly better than the XB323QK in almost every way, the 48-inch size is way to big and inflexible for most desks. There’s also the issue of OLED lifetime to consider. So, if you have the cash to spend and a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, the Predator XB323QK is a no-brainer.
Though calibration is required for the best picture, the Asus TUF Gaming VG28U delivers some of the greatest video processing available in an Ultra HD display. It will gratify those looking for the highest pixel density and gaming performance, with a sharp detailed image.
As a TV replacement, the Aorus FV43U falls short in a few areas, but it excels at gaming. It’s a terrific choice for both PC and console gamers thanks to its large and accurate color gamut, strong contrast, 4K resolution, and 144 Hz.
When it comes to gaming, even the tiniest deficit might mean the difference between winning and losing a game. With a 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms (GTG) response time, and complete adaptive G-Sync and FreeSync Premium compatibility, you can be confident that the Odyssey G50A will not let you down on the battlefield.
Things To Consider When Choosing The Best HDMI 2.1 Monitors
1. Price
So, if you are in the market for the best HDMI 2.1 monitor, remember, you’re likely going to have to spend a good amount of cash to reap the rewards.
2. Hardware Requirements
Moving from a 1080p or 1440p panel to a UHD 4K one, as we explain on our 4K gaming monitor page, has significant implications for your gaming experience.
3. Screen size
There are displays that are smaller, larger, and in between. In-between sizes aren’t magically different; they’re simply out of the ordinary. However, I strongly advise staying within the 24-to-27-inch range. If you’re too small, you’ll lose too much. Larger and it starts to defeat the purpose of using a desktop to begin with.
4. Dynamic HDR
FAQs
Is HDMI 2.1 needed for PS5/XSX?
The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are HDMI 2.0 devices, meaning their outputs support a maximum bandwidth of 18Gbps, translating to a 4K 60Hz 4:2:2 12bitor 4K60Hz 4:4:4 8bit signal. When distributing these consoles through a matrix switch, extender, or AVoverIP system, it is necessary for the distribution system to support 18Gbps content, otherwise the customer will be stuck with a subpar system that cannot achieve maximum fidelity. This same concept holds true for both the PS5 and XSX. To achieve maximum fidelity, the distribution technology must be capable of handling HDMI 2.1, which supports up to 48Gbps. But, upon their respective launches, the PS5 and XSX do not output a full 48Gbps. The PS5 is limited to 32Gbps, while the XSX is limited to 40Gbps.
